FAQ’s

Is this a complete “PACS” (Picture Archiving And Communication System)?

No, it is not. Although our system contains most of the basic elements of a PACS, it does not not have  the full complement of features that are needed to act as a stand alone system to  acquire, manage and transmit data on a wide scale basis. These systems cost tens of thousands of dollars, with feature sets that reflect such.

Will your system capture images?

Yes, with the addition of the optional Video Digitizer.

What is the aspect ratio of the captured image?

4:3 aspect ratio, at 640×480 pixels. Which means that the captured image is in SD or Standard Definition format.

Can this system generate a report in the Adobe “Acrobat .pdf Format?

Yes. With the selection of Yes and No answers, an elaborate, consistent, complete and standardized  .pdf report can be generated in less than 5 seconds

Can this generated report be sent over the Internet back to my office?

Yes. Our system interface has transmitting capabilities  to your email address “built-In”.

Are the images “DICOM” formatted?

No. They are not. They  are .jpg images. The same format you use in your cell phone, or the ones in your home computer. DICOM images require a special reader. It is not needed to view the images generated by our system. In fact, you can read the images on your cell phone if you send them there.

Can I save the images and reports onto a flash drive to archive on another system?

Yes. Just plug in a formatted flash drive, load the patient files (both images and biometric data) and select if you want them: Uncompressed, ,  zipped in a ZIP file, or in the form of a Password protected ZIP file.

Is the interface “Customizable?”

To a point. You can input unique Referring Physician name, Institution names. You can input additional images as well. But the overall interface is not customizable.

Can you input you own formulae for calculating the fetal Biometry?

No. This is a question we get a lot. Currently, we are working on doing just that. But for now, we use the most popular and commonly used growth curves that are used in the industry. They are available upon request.

A trackball is used as the input pointer. Can a wireless Bluetooth mouse be used?

Yes it can. But .  .  . You need to have a “Wired” mouse available, because you have to select Bluetooth in the settings. Bluetooth is “NOT” automatically turned on. Also, if you accidentally turn off  the Bluetooth for some reason and you want to reset the system, the Bluetooth will again be turned off. Then the keyboard and mouse will have to be selected again by the wired device. So we included a trackball.

Does the system incorporate the AFI (Amniotic Fluid Index) into the final Report?

No. Although the AFI has a specific tab to select how to determine it by calculation, that calculation is not part of the final report. What “IS” part of the report is the result of the  “Qualitative” question and answer section that determines if the Amniotic Fluid is Polyhydramniotic, Oligohydramniotic, Upper limits of normal, Lower limits of normal or Normal.

What if I want a two (2) page report generated, with the second page being blank, so I can add my own comments not generated by the software? Can the system do that? And if so, can I make my own 2nd page template in MS Word?

Yes. You can select a one (1) page or two (2) page report when the .pdf is being generated. Microsoft Word can be used to make a “template” for your second page and details about the report can be easily configured, in which Text and Images from the exam can be formatted. You can add “captions” or “figures” to detail unusual or distinctive aspects of the examination. We can supply you with templates for first (1st), second and third (2nd-3rd) Trimester studies. If you have a version of Acrobat Professional, you can even embed video and audio within your .pdf reports! Thus generating such things as an actual Video of the fetal beating heart during an arrhythmia or the color Doppler with Audio. Since these capabilities are embedded “Within” the .pdf file, the whole report, including the multimedia, can be sent over the internet to the referring physician; All the person viewing the report has to do is either click on the embedded video or simply open the document for it to “auto-play”!

Do I have to have a Laser Printer or Ink-Jet Printer to produce the reports?

There is no requirement for either. Because the reports are produced in a .PDF format, any printer can be used. From a Dot Matrix to Dye Sublimation. And because the reports are digital, the printing can be done from the “Cloud”. In fact: You don’t need to print the reports at all! Just save them to your own personal database.

Does the system capture Video Clips?

No, it does not capture and save live video clips at this time, but that feature will be included in future updates

Do I need to download any Android software from the Google Play Store?

We suggest that you obtain the “Smart Keyboard Pro” by Dexilog, LLC  . It will allow you to configure your display in various ways to make typing easier and it will allow you to scale your keyboard to your individual needs. Also, “Ol File Manager” by OpenIntents is required as the database manager.

Some of your Video’s have a person operating a Tablet running the MedPad software, but I don’t see that version for sale on your website. What’s up with that?

We were forced to re-engineer our tablet version because the company that we purchased our hardware platform from no longer makes a version that supports Android (Market forces). So we are developing our software to run under several operating systems, running on all hardware platforms. As of yet there is no set date as to when this will be completed.

What version of Android is the system running?

The application is running on Android 4.4.2, Build number: 4.4.2-2016_2_29.  It is the most fluid and bug-free version available.
