The $0.99 Abacus OB Prime Professional or the Free Abacus OB Prime Standard, are Android Applications that allow Ultrasonographers to rapidly, precisely and inexpensively determine the: Size, Age, Due Dates by LMP, Ultrasound measurements, and ultimately the Estimated Weight of fetuses, in a professional clinical environment. The all-important Amniotic Fluid Index (AFI) is also easily and simply performed within these calculation packages, by simply entering the depth of four (4) fluid pockets within the pregnant uterus. All calculations are compared to established tables used in the discipline of ultrasound. The software performs the conversion within your phone or tablet and the results are displayed. Theses calculation packages not only perform sophisticated calculations offline with no ultrasound scanner required, but one of the programs maintains all your data for multiple (thousands) patients, in an associated database that resides locally within your Cell Phone or Tablet computer. First, second, and third trimester calculations are all easily performed. A typical scenario is “ . . to quickly pull-out your phone and calculate the AFI from a previous hard-copy or from stored digital images in which the AFI was not performed”. Or “. . a quick re-calculation of the head, body and limb measurements, to get a more detailed, or precise Estimated Fetal Weight”, long after the ultrasound scanner is turned off. Both programs have FDA clearance.
These inexpensive “Apps” are available for download from the Google Play Store.
